Andrew Charnley, Distribution Centre Manager at New Zealand Defence Force’s Naval Supply Depot, knows first-hand the importance of reliable and adaptable storage solutions. 

The Naval Supply Depot, based at Devonport Naval Base, is responsible for delivering operational logistic support for all maritime platforms. They needed extra storage space for equipment and items recovered from ships.

It all began with an old naval boat that required secure storage. To meet this need, a container shelter measuring 10m x 12.2m was installed, mounted to a 40ft shipping container on each side. The benefits were clear, leading to the addition of two more shelters—and a fourth is already on the drawing board. There are also three other SmartShelters at the Naval Base, for other NZDF departments and contractors.

Andrew appreciates the shelters' user-friendliness and flexibility, especially when it comes to relocation. If temporary storage is needed on an island, the shelter can be easily shipped and quickly installed—a huge bonus for the navy’s operational efficiency.

These shelters are fully enclosed and feature robust wall panels, spacious steel roller doors, and convenient personnel doors. They opted for a silver fabric cladding, but other colours are available to match your business branding or personal preference.
